10 Ways Coffee is Consumed Around the World

From China to England we all have own traditions. When you do some research its surprising that there are so many different ways that people consume coffee across the world. Here is some of the most interesting!

1. Finland- Kaffeost

Hot coffee is poured over chunks of juustoleipa (cheese curds) in Finland. It may seem rather unusual but its very popular.

2. Turkey - Türk Kahvesi

Turkish coffee is unfiltered - so that grounds settle at the bottom. So you drink it with the grounds. Roasted and finely ground coffee beans are simmered in a special copper or brass pot called a cezve.

3. Australia - Flat white

Similar to a latte although smaller in volume. Made by pouring microfilm (steamed velvet milk) over a shot of espresso.

4. Greece - Frappé

A popular summer beverage in Greece, consisting of iced instant coffee drowned in milk foam. Best enjoyed out in the sun.

5. Italy - Espresso Romano

A true Italian espresso comes with a slice of lemon, which is said to bring out the java's sweetner flavour.

6. Mexico - Café de olla

Brewed with cinnamon sticks and earthenware pots. Simmered with a cinnamon stick, traditional median coffee uses piloncillo (unrefined cane sugar) and is served in a clay mug.

7. Ireland - Irish Coffee 

Coffee meats cocktail. Consisting of hot coffee, Irish whisky, and sugar and is topped with a think cream. The perfect after dinner drink.

8. France - Café au Lait

Equal parts steamed milk and freshly brewed coffee. The mug must be wide enough to allow the dipping of baguettes and croissants.

9. Morocco - Spiced Coffee 

This frequent blend of dark coffee melds together warm spices like cardamom, black pepper, cinnamon, clove and nutmeg. A blend of spices to create a fragrant brew. 

10. Japan - Kan Kohi

Probably the most unusual, coffee brewed in a can. In a country where convenience is key, it's all they want!
