Imporient (UK) Ltd are members of the Ethical Tea Partnership (ETP) which monitors tea estates to ensure the ethical sourcing of tea.

More Information
The ETP is a unique social monitoring scheme covering 1,200 tea estates. The partnership’s aims are to ensure that producers comply with all local legislation and union agreements relating to terms and conditions of employment, health and safety, Education, Maternity and Housing.

The Fairtrade Mark is more than a badge of hope for farmers in the developing world - it shows our commitment to paying coffee growers in particular a fair and proper price for their hard won crops. This can be 3 times more than free market prices.

The growers also receive a premium that they can invest in community projects. Farmers who get a better deal on their crops can properly husband their land and resources. By putting a lot of care into their crops and the forests that sustain them they are also helping to care for the environment. The Fairly traded Coffee which we buy comes from a group of Colombian Coffee Growers. It’s been set up in such a way so that it benefits everyone involved in Coffee growing in Colombia. The funds raised through coffee sales are distributed to families, local schools, health centres and road maintenance. Our MD has recently visited Colombia to see this in action and has reported back to Revive that it really works in reality not just on paper.

Buendia belong to the Federación Nacional de Cafeteros de Colombia. By joining together in the Federation the farmers achieve the benefits, and power, that only a large organization can provide. This is especially important, as the average size of an individual coffee farm in Colombia is around 2 hectares. Everything the Federation does is for the benefit of all coffee farmers. All profits are channeled back to the cafeteros and their communities.
